Celebrate Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week with Houston Volunteer Lawyers!

November 11 – 15 marks Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week—a time to honor those who have served by giving back to veterans who need legal assistance. We invite attorneys across Texas to join us in celebrating and supporting veterans by attending our upcoming CLE, volunteering for pro bono cases, and dedicating their expertise to make a lasting impact. Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Attend Our CLE: “The Basics of Representing Veterans 2024”

Equip yourself to better serve veterans by joining us for “The Basics of Representing Veterans 2024,” a virtual CLE tailored to help attorneys gain essential skills in representing veteran clients. 2. Represent a Veteran Pro Bono: Your Skills Can Change Lives

Veterans in our community face legal issues that range from housing to benefits and beyond. We have pro bono cases available right now for attorneys interested in providing direct support.

A few current pro bono opportunities include:

  1. Veteran seeks help with divorce. Applicant and her husband were married in 2014 and are amicably separating. Applicant was attempting a pro se divorce but ran into a complication regarding their child. She and husband have an adult disabled child that will continue to need support. Both parties agree the child is disabled and are in agreement child support will continue and the amount.
  2. Veteran and his wife need help with preparing a will and other estate documents.
