In the greater Houston area, 888,000 vulnerable households experience at least one civil legal issue every year. There is NO right to an attorney for civil legal matters. HVL’s pro bono legal assistance is the last resort for thousands of individuals. Without pro bono attorneys volunteering their time, clients cannot access justice. HVL recruits pro bono attorney sand legal professionals from law firms, corporate legal departments, law schools and bar associations, and provides training and mentorship to support these volunteers.
