Houston Volunteer Lawyers (HVL) offers career positions in addition to opportunities for law students and/or newly licensed attorneys to work with staff attorneys as Interns or Fellows.

Join the staff of Houston Volunteer Lawyers and help bridge the legal gap between needs and solutions for thousands of low-income individuals in Harris County and the surrounding counties. When available, career opportunities including attorneys, legal case workers, pro bono staff, and office administration will be listed below.

Fellowships

Partner organizations such as the Asian American Bar Association,  ABA Military and Veterans Legal Center, and the Association of Women Attorneys often provide funding to support a Fellowship with HVL. Click on a link above to apply.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Interns must desire to work with low-income clients on civil legal issues.
  • Successful candidates will possess strong writing skills and have good communication and organizational skills.
  • Interns must be a 2L or 3L law student in good standing.
  • Interns will receive one-on-one mentorship and training from HVL staff attorneys.
